The Story.
Innovator(s)
ArtsKC’s programs and services are designed to “advance lives through the arts.” This includes programs for the arts community and those engaged with the arts in the local Kansas City area. Additionally, ArtsKC works with local government and civic leadership to advocate for the arts.
Problem
Youth are uninterested in the arts.
Solution
Start an Art Campaign and bring attraction to it by a youth led mural project and a traveling art exhibition filled with art created by youth in KC.
Target Market
The main people affected by the problem are youth and arts organizations.
Societal Impact
The whole community is affected by this problem because art can communicate information, shape our everyday lives, make a social statement and be enjoyed for aesthetic beauty. If the youth are unable to access the arts who will continue to do so in the future ?
Next Steps
The next step in our idea is to get some sort of funding to have the resources necessary to
begin marketing our campaign to the youth, whether that is through social media or actually going into schools, other youth organizations, etc. From this we hope to garner the attention of people who are interested in participating in our activities and as well as advocating for our campaign.
Reflection
This work has increased the skills we've built over the course of our internship because we had to use every skill we have learned to be able to shape the project to where it is now. This includes using communications skills with our team members and employers, time management skills; managing time spent working at our actual internship and working towards getting this project finished. Above all, problem solving skills because there was always something to improve on within our project to make it the best it could be from the feedback we received.
Use of Backer Contributions
We are not currently accepting contributions from our voters. This pitch is part of the ProX competition for $5,000. The money will be used towards the budget we have outlined to kickstart our campaign. We will begin with a program coordinator to clean up the current plan we have created and to implement it into the community as soon as we can. The rest of the funds will be used for other parts our budget plan and anything else needed along the way accordingly.
