The Story.
Innovator(s)
Our employer is the Office of Mayor Quinton Lucas. He is the Mayor of Kansas City and we work with his administrative team.
Problem
Our problem is the gun and violence epidemic in this country. More specifically, we’re trying to mitigate the violence within our region.
Solution
Our solution is encouraging the youth to raise their voices and use their experiences to contribute to the reduction of gun violence in the region.
Target Market
Everyone is affected by gun violence particularly our youth in schools. Over the past couple of months, we’ve seen tragedy within schools, public spaces, and within our own communities that have been affected by gun violence.
Societal Impact
It would encourage future leaders to advocate among themselves and their communities. It would make youth play a significant role within our political climate.
Next Steps
We would need to pass the ordinance, persuading City Council members, encourage youth to become involved, and encourage youth to create their own chapters in their schools.
Reflection
This work has impacted our research skills and has made us more confident in becoming involved in the legislative process. Our networks have also expanded.
Use of Backer Contributions
We are not currently accepting contributions from our voters. This pitch is part of the ProX competition for $5,000. Organize events spreading awareness of gun control and gun violence. Open other chapters in various school districts across MO and KS.
