The Story.
Innovator(s)
The problem we were given from MARC was "how do we get youth excited about a career in public service?" Public service has been viewed to be a job that only older people work in and that the benefit financially isn't enticing towards young people. Our solutions are wide and we focused on ways to not only motivate youth to want to explore a career in public service but to also give creative solutions to people in public services to create outreach to youth. Not only connecting with students through sources of social media but also connecting with them through empathy and compassion, showing them how personal work in the public sector can be, and this can be done through a rigorous social media presence. the next steps that needs to be done in part of MARC and other public service organizations is to reach out to not only suburban communities but also inner city communities so they are able to create the diversity that public service needs.
Problem
Youth are not excited about a career in public service.
Solution
Use social media and empathy to show youth the personal side of public service.
Target Market
Young people interested in public service.
Societal Impact
This could diversify and invigorate the public service sector, leading to more representative and effective services.
Next Steps
Outreach to suburban and inner city communities to encourage diversity in public service.
