The Story.

Innovator(s)

This is the first of four pitch competitions this semester. Our first video is an introduction. Please send feedback at www.ShopSMSD.org!

Small Water Customs was started for a Passion Project in 8th grade. Little did I know that I would fall in love with this craft and continue doing it 18 months later. I had then discovered a year later that this is something I want to get very good at and make a living doing.

Problem

It fills the gap in the market of lures that are specifically designed for small, shallow water bass fishing. Most bass tackle is either too big or dives too deep. Our business provides the highest quality bass lures designed to be the most durable and catch bass unlike any other product.

Solution

Hand carved bass fishing lures. Bass lures that are designed specifically for small water bass fisherman. I design them all to be small and compact, but still produce the action that makes the bigger lures famous.

Target Market

One group that is likely to purchase SWC products is people who fish small waters and have a need for perfected tackle for those waters. Another group is people who just want to support what I do and want to help me grow my business. Another group is people who like to collect wooden bass baits.

Societal Impact

My business will make a positive impact on society because I am helping those who need tackle for the waters that they fish– not the waters others fish. My business will donate SWC products to those in need and those who want to go fishing and catch fish. It will also have impeccable customer service. If you aren’t happy with your product, just get in contact with us and we can get you a new product.

Next Steps

Continue selling products and trying to provide a higher quality product. In other words, get better at what I do and try to get returning customers. I will strive to build more lures quicker and consistently make a good product.

Reflection

Business startup is going very well, and we have been selling products for a couple months now. I am starting to really ramp up production of the Pond Special, because they are a blast to make and they catch fish unbelievably well. I am making good money for what I am selling.

Use of Backer Contributions

All funds coming from selling products is going towards purchasing better tools to make better, more consistent products quickly. It will also go towards purchasing sustainable supplies to continue making baits with the same components. Will also go towards buying better paints and airbrushes to paint them better.
